I am a mid-forties woman and happily married to my wife for over two years.
Back in 2010 I had my first major-crush on a woman. After years of pondering and fancying women on TV and film, this was the real deal. This was to be a big game-changer for me in my life. It was real and there was nothing I could do about it. I fancied women.
2011 would become quite a year for me. It would be the year I met my wife for the first time (though we would start dating until the following April – not very lesbian at all) and would move to the gay-UK centre Brighton.
Now, settled into my gay life I have spent much time pondering my journey from the straight world and want to share it with you; open and honestly. The good times and bad times and even the times when I wished I wasn’t gay.
I also want to talk about society’s view of a lesbian, versus the reality. It’s an interesting time as diversity is the buzz word du jour, TV and film feature more and more gay characters and advertisers use gay couples more frequently and more and more celebrities are coming out.
This is my ex-het(rosexual) life.
